Jump to Recipe

This is our family’s favorite recipe for fresh salsa. Depending on who is coming by we either use just 2 jalapenos with the seeds removed up to 4 jalapenos with all the seeds. Mild or spicy. Just adjust the jalapenos.

I gather all the ingredients. Then wash and chop it enough to process.

The GREEN stuff:

  • 1 bunch of green onions – cut into thirds
  • 2-4 jalapenos – seeded or not seeded – depending on how much kick you want – then quartered
  • Juice of two limes
  • 1 bunch of cilantro – break off the leaves – throw away the stems
The green ingredients

The RED stuff:

  • 6 Roma tomatoes
  • 1-15 oz can tomato sauce
The red ingredients

Cut the onions in quarters, quarter the jalapenos, clean and remove the leaves from the cilantro, and add the lime juice to a food processor bowl.

Pulse till you get to the desired coarse, even, consistency.

Quarter the tomatoes, add to the processor and pulse till the tomatoes are all chopped.

Pour into a large bowl.

Add the tomato sauce. Stir well. If your food processor is big enough you can add the tomato sauce then pulse a little bit to mix it then pour it into your serving bowl.

Get the chips ready because you need about ½ bag of chips to taste it just to make sure it’s OK.
