A Visit with Mom
My aunt and my cousin came to visit us recently. We had a great time catching up on what has been going on in the family since last July when we all saw each other at a family reunion in Colorado.
We had three nice visits with Mom while they were here. On the first visit we took Mom out for a walk in the hallway. She was a little unsteady at first but after a few minutes she was able to move along pretty well. Mom was in a pretty good mood and tried to talk quite a bit. It is always good to hear her voice whenever she tries to speak.
At our second visit later that day the aides set up a special table with flowers for us. We brought fresh strawberries to add to the meal. Mom always loves fruit.
Keeping up the family tradition, I tried to be as hospitable as Mom always was. We have two extra beds now that most of the kids are gone and we had a couple of nice meals together. For breakfast we had Mom’s Pancakes complete with bacon, fresh strawberries, warm syrup, whipped cream and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Maybe I just have some of those Grandmother genes too.
